Rovinj, Croatia
Cuvi beach
Visit the charming hilltop towns of Central Istria: Motovun, Hum, and Grožnjan (among countless others)
Relax in the ancient seaside cities of Pula, Rovinj, Poreč, and Labin
Discover the lovely, empty beaches of Southern Istria
Hike Mount Učka and Ćićarija
Hunt for truffles! The town of Buzet is especially famous for this delicacy.
Go deep underground in the Baredine Cave
Taste locally made prosciutto, cheese, and pasta dishes (everywhere!)
Sample Malvazija and Teran wines
Go cycling in the countryside and along the Parenzana Cycling Path
Head back in time and walk amongst Roman ruins. Pula’s Arena is the most impressive remnant of Roman rule in Istria, but you’ll find traces of this great civilization all throughout the region
Take a boat tour and cruise down the Lim Channel, a fjord-like waterway in western Istria
Trip to Kamenjak, day at the beach (you choose your favourite, mine is Njive), sunset at the Safari Bar

Zadar, Croatia
Just a little update on our 3 night stay in Zadar. We were blown away with it's beauty. So stunning. We stayed in the centre of the old town. Got the passanger ferry to Preko one day. Totally recommend this trip. 2nd day we got a local bus to borik. It was nice but no where near as nice as Preko. Today we walked to Kolovare beach. It was lovely and worth a visit. We were very lucky with the weather. We spent the rest of our time exploring the old town. Here's some photos
We have had the most wonderful 5 days in Zadar. About to leave for the airport and we don’t want to go!
Things we did (and would recommend):
✅ Sea organ, in the day and as the sun sets. So so lovely.
✅ Wandering round the old town - so beautiful and so many lovely places to eat and drink.
✅ Plitvice - we were blown away by how beautiful it is. We booked Flix bus tickets and park tickets on line and caught the earliest bus there and the 4.20 bus back. That gave us enough time to do route H and include the boat ride.
✅ Kolavare beach, first thing in the morning for a swim and a sit and read. Pebbly (you need shoes for the water) but still comfortable and so clean. Plenty of places for coffee.
✅ Sunset boat ride with sparkling wine (we booked through booking. com app which is where we booked our accommodation so there was an offer).
There is so much to see and do in Zadar and the surrounding area. We would love to return! 🩷

Trogir, Croatia
Also,20 minutes from Split is an old town Trogir, which is lovely. Even staying in Trogir is cheaper than Split and can drive to Sibenik or Primosten from there.

Primošten, Croatia

Šibenik, Croatia
Catch a bus to Vodice. It’s a gorgeous little town.
Or jump on the ferry and head to Zlarin or prvic. No cars on these islands. They are simply beautiful

If you like Mamma Mia then you need to visit the island of Vis, that's where Mamma Mia II was filmed. You can reached it by the Jadrolinija ferry service, with a vehicle or as foot passengers, from Split and pre-booking is not required. Stay in either Vis town or Komiža, but be sure to visit both (there is a bus service between them). On the island you can visit many filming locations (either by yourself or by tour)...there is a fun Mamma Mia boat trip, with singing and food that focuses on the movie. In addition, you have beautiful beaches, a nice selection of cafes and restaurants plus other tours available - including to the Blue Cave which is very close by.

EXPLORE SUPETAR: A great day trip from Split ⛴️…
If you're in Split and looking for a budget-friendly day trip, you have to check out Supetar on Brač Island.
It's super easy to get there – just catch the Jadrolinija ferry. Tickets are only €6.50 for adults, €3.20 for kids aged 3-12, and free for the little ones under 3. The ferry ride takes about 1hr and there are many trips back and forth throughout the day.
When you arrive in Supetar, you'll love the small quaint old town. You can start by visiting the church and for just €2, you can also climb the bell tower for stunning views. Then you can wander around the narrow streets where you'll find local konobas (restaurants), bakeries (where we grabbed delicious bureks for breakfast for Є3) and small grocery shops where you can pick up supplies.
The seafront promenade stretches several kilometers and is perfect for a leisurely walk. There are cheap sunbeds to rent everywhere (Є6), plenty of cafe bars and restaurants (some even have kiddie pools so everyone can have fun). You can also enjoy a relaxing beach massage or try out the MANY water sports available. We stopped at a cafe bar about half way for a well deserved cold large beer (which cost Є3.50).
As we explored further (we walked all the way to the end), we found the perfect spot for us – some rocks in a cove under the shade of pine trees. It was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful, literally a little slice of paradise!
To wrap up our day, we had an amazing dinner near the port at Hotel Osam 'Restaurant Otok' Their terrace dining is Michelin star-rated (I had a delicious burger for Є16.50 and my husband had a seafood risotto for Є19.50, which he really enjoyed). We then finished off with a sunset drink on their lovely rooftop terrace, which is open to everyone, before catching our ferry back.
SUMMARY: Supetar is an affordable, enjoyable and perfect DIY day trip from Split. It’s great for everyone, and I would say especially so if you have children.

Bonjour! 👋
Here I leave you some activities you can do in Zadar. Sunset from the sea organ is something not to be missed. Also, there are many boat trips to national parks that are also a great idea.

Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia
it doesn’t matter what location you have bought tickets for. You can enter gate 3. Head to the signs to the big waterfall. Then take the bus to the upper lakes and walk down. The follow the signs to the boat to gate 3. It was mostly downhill and by starting at 8:15 am we missed a ton of the crowds!!
