Leave Early. Don’t risk any sort of road rage or fatigue from any party.
Take some water and headphones if you’re taking the van.
An eye-mask could help you in the van too.
Hoot around the corners if you’re driving yourself. A blind corner is not a reason to hold off from overtaking.
Water and Sunscreen are vital if you’re taking your own bike.

stay in old town? - 1 hour from the airport- cafes, jazz bars, chilled out, (in the heart of the city- good jumping point for exploring rest of phuket)
rawai- charming fishing village w plenty of restaurants and tourist activities home to the phuket art villages. but accomodation choices are limited
patong beach- v touristy
karon and kata beach- more chilled out - good for surfing- (beach towns best for ''beach bums and nature lovers''- far from the town centre. pg 190 lonely planet)

Day trip from koh lanta! great boat trips from here, very quiet but little accommodation so book early!
