🛏️ Bed Station Khaosan Hostel
- £7.50 a night (16-bed mixed dorm)
- The hostel had a nice pool, and social area with a pool table, but it did get quite crowded. The room had a very comfy bed with a private blackout curtains and duvet. Food and drinks were fairly expensive but it was very close to khaosan road, so easy to access cheaper street food and right across from a 7/11. It was a good price and they did offer social events but we didn’t do any.
Best Food Spots:
🥟 Hagow Yaowarat (Chinatown)
- This was really good food, we paid 200B each for dimsum, gyozas and a crispy pork & duck dish with rice to share. One of the best priced and cutest restaurants we could find, as a lot of the food is street vendors so a bit overwhelming and it was chucking it down when we went.
Best Bits:
🌆 Rambuttri Rd
- Very good for food, some cheaper places and some nicer restaurants. A lot cuter and less busy than main Khaosan Rd even though only round the corner. Would definitely recommend going here for at least one meal, and they also had lots of cute little stores for merch and little gifts.
🌃 Khaosan Rd
- We honestly didn’t explore it too much but it was very busy and quite a lot going on. Drinks especially were very expensive and some of the food was average, lots of overpriced westernised dishes. Think it would be fun to go out but unfortunately I didn’t, the clubs are meant to be great.
🏛️Grand Palace + Museum
- It is expensive (500B) but the ticket price includes the Queen Sikrit Textiles Museum and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha
- Absolutely beautiful and big grounds to walk around, so definitely worth it
🛕 Wat Arun
- I think it’s a little spenny (200B) for what it is, but it was still impressive and nice to go across to the other side of the river. Very busy though and not actually that much to see, more of a tourist picture spot with everyone trying on the cultural attire. Also was quite far from Khaosan Rd.
Itinerary:
* Wednesday — arrived late in the evening, and went to Khaosan Road for some food just around the corner
* Thursday — walked to Wat Pho, then decided to go and explore Wat Arun instead. Walked around and then came back through the amulet market and the backstreets of Rambuttri road which is very cute. Went out for dins for a Pad Thai on Khaosan Rd
* Friday — walked around the Grand Palace and Textiles Museum, very impressive and then socialised in the afternoon with people in the pool. Then we went to Chinatown for dinner - overall quite underwhelming, it was so busy and quite expensive. Also it was absolutely chucking it down.
* Saturday — Walked to the Old Siam Plaza which was odd, wouldn’t recommend as has no western clothes, then strolled back through Rambuttri, and had lunch at the Frog Pond which was nice. Then we went in the pool for a few hours while chatting to Ciaran, Lucy and Remi who were lovely. We went out for dinner at Yummy yummy chicken Rambuttri road with them.
