I'd also highly recommend considering an overnight trip from Osaka to Kinosaki Onsen - it's a beautiful hot spring town around 2.5 hours from Osaka by public transport and it's one of my favourite places in Japan!
Hozenji Yokocho is a popular tourist attraction in Osaka's Namba neighborhood. However, despite being so close to Dotonbori, another sightseeing hotspot, it has quite a different atmosphere. With its red lanterns, cobblestone paths, and the famous Hozenji temple and Mizukake Fudo-son statue, you will get to see a more traditional side of Japan.

Nara, Japan
Horyu-ji Temple, Omiwa Shrine, Asuka, Mount Yoshino, Imaicho Town, and more)
If you're starting your day at JR Namba Station, you can catch the Rapid Service Train to Nara or Kamo on the JR Yamatoji Line during morning rush hours between 7 AM to 9:30 AM. This train will whisk you directly to JR Nara Station in just over 40 minutes. This train ride will cost you ¥580.
You can also catch the same Rapid Service Train back from Nara to JR Namba starting 6PM at JR Nara Station.
If you're planning a day trip to Nara on your next trip to Japan, it may be worth adding an overnight stay here! A few reasons why:
1. Experiencing Nara in the morning and evening without the crowds is magical!
2. With some extra time, you can take a few short trips from Nara and see more of the prefecture
3. You're supporting the prefecture
I've written more about why I think you should stay overnight in Nara here:
https://thenavigatio.com/why-you-should-stay-overnight-in-nara/
And if you want some recommendations on WHERE to stay in Nara, I published a full guide on it last week (including a very special stay at the oldest soy sauce brewery in the prefecture):
